President Donald Trump is putting the 2026 midterm elections front and center as Republicans gather in Dallas for the party’s first-ever midterm convention.
During his speech, Trump urged Republicans to maintain control of the House and Senate and said he plans to campaign across key states and congressional races ahead of Election Day.
Trump also proposed a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” for every American adult if Republicans win both chambers of Congress. The proposal would require congressional action and its implementation details remain unclear.
The convention also featured a tribute to late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, whose assassination in Utah occurred one year ago.
